Health & Well-Being
Comprehensive programming and strategic consultations engage community food partners in conversations and activities that help build the capacity of local food producers, increase awareness for the value of locally grown foods, and encourage residents to shop at local markets.
Food Systems Development
Building a healthy, local food system that spans farm to table is a comprehensive endeavor that requires a variety of strategic partners and a plan for sustainability and expansion well beyond the initiation of the project. Through Local First Arizona programming, community food partners are engaged in conversations and activities that help build the capacity of local producers, build awareness for the value of locally grown foods, and enhance the ability for residents to engage in a local marketplace.
Community Kitchens
Like music, food is a universal language that crosses boundaries and brings people together on common ground. One economic driver often underestimated is a community kitchen. With the ability to create a communal space, incubate new food entrepreneurs, and enhance food culture within a community, a community kitchen program can significantly enhance the economic prosperity for the communities and the businesses that participate.
Waste & Sustainability
The rural voice for conservation often goes unheard and very few opportunities exist to improve a rural community’s options for sustainable practices. Through coalition building, community discussions, and goal-setting activities, Local First Arizona can help begin to address sustainability through actionable initiatives with collaborative partners and unified goals.
