Charlotte Bowens, Conscious Gear
Conscious Gear turned 3 this March — and what a journey it’s been. Founder Charlotte Bowens blazed the trails of size inclusive outdoor gear with the Vestapack, a first of its kind hydration pack designed for bigger bodies. Her products are now carried by both REI and Target, and Bowens was recently featured in The Guardian.
Clifton Graham, CLF Studios
We’re thrilled to celebrate Clifton Graham, a proud graduate of We Rise Cohort 7 and the founder of CLF Studios, for winning a GRAMMY! Clifton co-produced the project that won the 2023 Gospel Album of the Year — a huge achievement and testament to his talent and dedication. CLF Studios specializes in professional audio production and education, helping shape the next generation of sound engineers. Congratulations, Clifton — we’re so proud!
Michele Forte, Holy Hands Painters
Big news for Michele Forte! Her company, Holy Hands Painters, just landed a major five-year contract with the City of Phoenix to paint all of its housing authority buildings. What makes this win even more impressive? Michele’s business is just 3 years old — and she outshined competitors with over two decades of experience.
Arlette Gomez-Kponton, Golden Palm Foods
Golden Palm Foods just hit a major milestone! The West African food startup’s flagship chili paste passed its shelf stability test on the first try — meaning they’re now FDA-compliant and ready to ship nationwide. With retail partnerships on the horizon and a website launching this summer, Golden Palm is just getting started. Bonus: They’ll be teaching a West African cooking class with the African-Soul Marketplace this summer.
Evelia Davis, Latha Restaurant and Bar
Owned by We Rise alum Evelia Davis, Phoenix’s vibrant pan-African restaurant, Latha recently marked its 2-year anniversary! Davis is dedicated to honoring the rich foodways of Africa through bold flavors — and the culinary world is taking notice. Latha was recently awarded a bronze medal at the 2025 Devour Culinary Classic,
Germaine Graham, Deafinitely Communicating
We Rise graduate Germaine Graham, owner of Deafinitely Communicating, recently signed a new contract to interpret church services — expanding access to worship for Deaf and signing parishioners. Big congrats to Germaine for using her talents to make both business and community more accessible!
