Indie Week XXL: A Month of Supporting Local
This year has not gone the way anyone planned — and some of our favorite events will have to look and feel a little different. But for once, COVID has allowed us to make a campaign bigger than ever! Meet the new, action-packed celebration for Independents Week that lasts for the whole month of September: Indie Week XXL! If you have participated in past years, you may remember the golden ticket. This year, we are doing a bingo style “Consumer Action Card” with 25-themed opportunities and meaningful ways you can support local businesses.
Do you still need to complete the census or follow Local First on social media? Have you made it out to your local farmers market during the pandemic? Or are you trying to find ways to support Black-owned or LGBTQ+ inclusive businesses? All of these and more can be found on Local First’s Indie Week XXL action card.
HOW YOU CAN WIN
As you work on marking off these call-to-actions , you can also enter to win prizes. Bonus: some call-to-actions don't cost a dime! We will have three winners each week for those who diagonals, columns or rows and a “blackout” grand prize winner who completes every square on the card.
Each week you have the chance to win a gift card to the local business of your choice — and every week gift card $ amounts will get bigger! For the Blackout prize, one big winner will receive a curated prize pack from Hownd and $100 gift card to their favorite local business.
We ask that throughout your #IndieWeekAZ journey, you document what small businesses you supported and actions you made. If you enter to win and are chosen, you will be asked to show screenshots, photos and/or receipts to prove participation.
Pro-tip: Get to know some of your favorite businesses, some may qualify for two squares!

HOW ARIZONA WINS
We want this month to be a safe and fun celebration, from Page to Bisbee, and everything in between. We know that everyone's situation is different, especially right now, so there are diverse and physically-distanced ways for everyone to participate.
The Consumer Action card helps you to support not only Arizona’s small businesses but locally-grown food and farmers, minority business owners, our rural towns, and green businesses. Check our social media channels for a themed blog each week that will help you celebrate and discover locally-owned businesses that make us proud to call Arizona home. The squares you complete do not need to align with the blog theme for each week, but we invite you to tune along with us!
Presenting partner, Hownd, is also driving foot traffic to small businesses safely through their app and helping shoppers find coupons to some of their favorite local businesses. Indie Week XXL is not only a great time to support your favorite businesses but to challenge your friends and family to support Arizona businesses and help support our local economy.
