Rediscover some of your favorite brick and mortar stores by shopping with a private appointment, buying a new piece of art from a local artist, getting a gift card for a friend, or finally get that home project done! Leaving a review for your favorite local business is also a great way to support them, stay physically distant, and encourage others in your community to support them. Have you heard the phrase “sense of place?” When people describe a neighborhood or city that they love, the reasons they usually give center around the local businesses that help contribute character to their home. Every time you shop local you are helping a small business owner stay open, put food on the table, and help build a tight-knit community that wants to see Arizona succeed.
Shopping locally also has a huge financial impact on Arizona. Did you know that if a community the size of Tucson shifted just 10 percent of its spending to local businesses that it would create 1,600 new jobs and $53 million in new wages? Think of what that could mean for your community; you can make a huge difference by doing something you consider small and optional.
