Conocé la historia de Juanderful Tacos LLC: “Uno no necesita saberlo todo para empezar un negocio, solo debe tomar la decisión para empezar”
Para conocer la Historia de nuestro próximo miembro del mes, debemos hacer un acercamiento a la historia de 2 empresarios graduados de la 17ª Generación del Programa Acelerador de Negocios de Fuerza Local que dieron vida, forma y alma a Juanderful Tacos LLC.
Juan Robles originario de Zapopan, Jalisco emigró junto a su familia a Estados Unidos cuando solo tenía 7 años, desde entonces ha vivido la mayor parte de su vida en Glendale, Az. Graduado de Apollo High School en el 2015, continuó sus estudios en Grand Canyon University donde se graduó con su Bachelor’s en Gobierno con énfasis en estudios jurídicos en el 2018 y actualmente trabaja como consejero de Servicios Estudiantiles para Grand Canyon University.
Evelyn Gomez originaria de Nogales, Sonora, emigró junto a su familia a Estados Unidos cuando solo tenía 2 años y creció en las comunidades de Sur Phoenix y Maryvale. En el 2015 se graduó de Metro Tech High School y continuó sus estudios en Grand Canyon University donde se graduó con su Bachelor’s en Administración del cuidado de la Salud en 2018 y actualmente trabaja en Farmers Insurance como ajustadora de reclamos.
Juanderful Tacos es una pequeña empresa local ubicada al lado oeste de Phoenix, Arizona (37th Ave y Camelback). La filosofía en su menú es “menos es más” con su menú minimalista, de esta forma, se aseguran de que la calidad de su comida sea sobresaliente. La idea del negocio nació de la pasión por la cocina de Juan, desde joven ha disfrutado cocinar para su familia y amigos. Durante un día de trabajo de febrero de 2020 mientras estaba sentado adentro de su cubículo y con el deseo de crecer hacia algo más grande fue como decidió registrar su empresa, en ese momento, para Juan solamente era un sueño y hasta era un poco gracioso el registrar una LLC sin tener ningún plan.
Al mes siguiente el mundo tomó una pausa repentina a causa de Covid-19, al igual que sus planes de negocio desde febrero de 2020 hasta abril de 2021. Fue hasta que finalmente, un miércoles al azar, Juan le dijo a su esposa Evelyn que ya estaba listo para empezar a vender tacos y fue como ese mismo sábado, realizaron su primera venta desde su patio trasero sin idea de lo que estaban empezando, siguieron vendiendo tacos cada sábado por varios meses.
En Julio de 2021, Juan renunció a su trabajo de oficina y se enfocó a seguir vendiendo tacos con la ayuda de Evelyn, dejaron de vender en su patio y empezaron a vender afuera de The Wayward Taphouse en Downtown Phoenix y Zion Latin Delights.
En diciembre de 2021, se les presentó la oportunidad de poder adquirir un local en la plazita en la que tenían unos cuantos meses vendiendo comida por las noches en el estacionamiento. Con mucho esfuerzo, lograron abrir su taquería en febrero de 2022, aproximadamente 2 años después de que la LLC fuera formada. Lo que solo era un chiste o un sueño, se hizo realidad por medio del trabajo duro y confianza en Dios.
¿Qué sienten al ver todos sus logros, desde el momento que iniciaron su negocio hasta el día de hoy? Sentimos felicidad y agradecimiento por estar en una posición tan privilegiada. En este momento, tenemos 6 empleados bajo nuestro equipo y todos somos inmigrantes. Tenemos orgullo en saber que algo que empezó como una idea chistosa, ahora es una forma de ingreso para 6 diferentes familias.
¿Qué consejo le das a la comunidad hispana empresarial para lograr sus metas? ¡Sin miedo al éxito! No debemos dejar que el miedo detenga nuestros planes. Somos creyentes firmes en decir, “Seek Discomfort” (busca incomodidad). Al otro lado de la incomodidad o el miedo, están los premios más grandes que nos acercan cada día más al crecimiento interno. Aunque a veces se sienta como que todos los días son una batalla, si uno decide tomar una actitud de “Seek Discomfort”, siempre termina ganando y creciendo como una persona más fuerte y segura de sí misma.
¿Qué recomendación le darías a una persona que quiere iniciar su negocio? ¡Querer es poder! En esta vida, solo existe la gente que sigue sus sueños y los que se quedan pensando en que hubiera pasado si lo hubieran intentado. Incluso si el negocio fracasa, la persona siempre se irá con el conocimiento que acumuló durante el proceso.
La meta más grande de estos 2 empresarios es alcanzar la libertad financiera pero también su más grande sueños es poder crear una fundación sin fines de lucro que ayude a jóvenes que están en el proceso de salir del sistema de Foster Care, su objetivo es poder ayudar con orientación profesional para obtener educación, vivienda o becas académicas.
Para Juan y Evelyn, Fuerza Local representa la oportunidad de conocer a otros empresarios y crear una red de conexiones empresariales, además de obtener los conocimientos para aprender a emprender desde cero con el programa Acelerador de Negocios.
"Hemos aprendido mucho y aunque todavía nos falta mucho más que aprender, estamos apasionados por ser parte del proceso. A veces hay días que deseamos nunca haber empezado y seguir viviendo una vida cómoda. Pero a pesar de eso, recordamos que nosotros escogimos este camino por la oportunidad de poder crear prosperidad para nuestra familia y las familias de aquellos que trabajen con nosotros". To know the story of our next member of the month, we must learn about the two entrepreneurs who graduated from the 17th Cohort of the Fuerza Local’s Business Accelerator Program who gave life, shape and soul to Juanderful Tacos LLC.
Juan Robles, originally from Zapopan, Jalisco, immigrated to the United States with his family when he was only 7 years old. Since then, he has lived most of his life in Glendale, AZ. Graduating from Apollo High School in 2015, he continued his studies at Grand Canyon University where he graduated with his Bachelor's in Government with an emphasis in legal studies in 2018 and currently works as a Student Services counselor for Grand Canyon University.
Evelyn Gomez, originally from Nogales, Sonora, immigrated to the United States with her family when she was only 2 years old and grew up in the communities of South Phoenix and Maryvale. She graduated from Metro Tech High School in 2015 and she continued her studies at Grand Canyon University where she graduated with her Bachelor's in Health Care Administration in 2018. She currently works at Farmers Insurance as a claims adjuster.
Juanderful Tacos is a small local business located on the west side of Phoenix, Arizona (37th Ave and Camelback). The philosophy in their menu is "less is more" with their minimalist menu, they make sure that the quality of their food is outstanding. The business idea was born from Juan's passion for cooking, since he was young he has enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. During a work day in February 2020, while he was sitting at his cubicle and with the desire to grow towards something bigger, he decided to register his company. At that moment, for Juan it was only a dream and it was even a little funny, to register an LLC without having a business plan.
The following month the world took a sudden pause because of Covid-19, as did his business plans from February 2020 to April 2021. That was when Juan told his wife, Evelyn, that he was ready to start selling tacos. That next Saturday, they held their first sale from their backyard with no idea what they were starting. They just kept selling tacos every Saturday for several months.
In July 2021, Juan quit his office job and focused on continuing to sell tacos with the help of Evelyn, they stopped selling from their patio and started selling at The Wayward Taphouse in Downtown Phoenix and Zion Latin Delights.
In December 2021, they were presented with the opportunity to acquire a store in the plaza where they had been selling food at night in the parking lot for a few months. With a lot of effort, they managed to open their taqueria in February 2022, approximately 2 years after the LLC was formed. What was just a joke or a dream came true through hard work and trust in God.
How does it feel to see your achievements, from the time you started your business to today? We feel happy and with gratitude for being in such a privileged position. Right now, we have 6 employees in our team, we are all immigrants. We are proud to know that something that started as a funny idea is now a part of the income for 6 different families.
What advice do you give to the Hispanic business community to achieve their goals? Do not fear success! We must not let fear stop our plans. We are firm believers in saying, "Seek Discomfort." On the other side of discomfort or fear, there are the greatest prizes that bring us closer to internal growth every day. Even though it sometimes feels like every day is a battle, if one decides to take a “Seek Discomfort” attitude, they always end up winning and growing into a stronger and more confident person.
What recommendation would you give to a person who wants to start their business? Wanting is power! In this life, there are only people who follow their dreams and those who are left wondering what would have happened if they had tried. Even if the business fails, the person will always walk away with the knowledge he has accumulated in the process.
The biggest goal of these two entrepreneurs is to achieve financial freedom and their biggest dream is to be able to create a non-profit foundation that helps young people who are in the process of leaving the Foster Care system. Their goal is to help career-oriented people obtain education, housing or academic scholarships.
For Juan and Evelyn, Fuerza Local represents the opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs and create a network of business connections, in addition to obtaining the knowledge to learn to start from scratch with the Business Accelerator program.
"We have learned a lot and although we still have much more to learn, we are passionate about being part of the process. Sometimes there are days that we wish we had never started and continue living a comfortable life. But despite that, we remember that we chose this path for the opportunity to create prosperity for our family and the families of those who work with us."
