Volunteers are one of the most powerful ways Local First Arizona mobilizes communities across the state. By supporting our food access and community initiatives, volunteers help connect residents to fresh, nourishing foods while creating welcoming spaces that celebrate local food and the people who grow, make and share it. Choice Food Pantry Glendale
Join us for our bi-monthly food pantry, hosted every second and fourth Wednesday in Glendale, AZ. We strive to serve and empower the community by offering a choice pantry, where residents can choose their items.
During the 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. shift, volunteers will help us sort food donations.
During the 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. shift, volunteers will focus on operating the pantry and engaging with community members.

Choice Food Pantry Mesa
Join us for our bi-monthly food pantry, hosted every first and third Thursday.
Our pantry serves residents of a low-income housing community.
During the 9:15 - 11:15 a.m. shift, volunteers will help us sort food donations.
During the 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. shift, volunteers will focus on operating the pantry and engaging with community members.

El Rancho Del Sol
Community Garden
Join the Local First Arizona team at our Mesa Community Garden to help prepare 28 garden beds for the upcoming growing season.
Volunteers should bring plenty of water, sun protection & gardening gloves (if you have them). Parking available in the lot behind the El Rancho Del Sol apartments or on the street (on Ashland, off Main Street). The garden is behind the dumpsters in the back of the parking lot, surrounded by an orange gate. You’ll be performing plant maintenance, composting and harvesting.
Shift times vary with the seasons:
7 a.m. - 9 a.m. May - September
8 a.m. - 10 a.m. October - April

Heart & Soil People’s Garden
Dig in at the Heart & Soil People’s Garden, a thriving Central Phoenix community space uplifting women growers and entrepreneurs while fostering environmental sustainability and connection.
Depending on the season, volunteers will help with:
Watering, weeding, planting and harvesting
Performing general garden maintenance and beautification
Building and filling new garden beds in the expanded lot
Helping to construct a greenhouse and other garden infrastructure
Shift times vary with the seasons:
7 a.m. - 10 a.m. May - October
9 a.m. - 12 p.m. November - February
8 a.m. - 11 a.m. March - April
