Mes de la Historia de la Mujer: Claudia Carreño “Échame Tierra y veraz como florezco”

En el mes de la Historia de la Mujer 2023, conoceremos la historia de Claudia Carreño, empresaria, instructora y sobre todo una mujer poderosa que está dejando huella en la comunidad empresarial hispana en Arizona. 

Claudia Carreño es orgullosamente originaria de Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, México y dueña de Carreno Professional Services LLC una empresa local que brinda servicios de contabilidad/bookkeeping, recursos humanos y administración a pequeñas empresas, además de ser la actual coordinadora de la segunda y tercera generación del programa Nivel Ejecutivo de Fuerza Local.  

Llegó a la ciudad de Phoenix, AZ junto a su familia cuando era una niña de 11 años, en un principio fue difícil integrarse a la nueva cultura e idioma de Estados Unidos. Convencida de que el estudio era lo más importante, se enfocó a hasta terminar su high school que en ese entonces pensaba que sería lo máximo que podría estudiar, afortunadamente se dio cuenta que podría continuar y terminó su carrera universitaria en la Universidad Estatal de Arizona (ASU) como Educadora y Consultora en Recursos Humanos. 

Claudia Carreño ha tenido muchos retos en su vida, pero el más latente de ellos fue el idioma inglés, hoy en día se siente orgullosa de decir que lo domina a su manera y que pudo destruir todas las inseguridades que traían consigo por no hablarlo perfecto o tener el famoso “acento”. 

La motivación de Claudia para levantarse cada mañana es seguir trabajando para poder realizar sus sueños y construir un mejor futuro, por los últimos 4 años ha contado con el apoyo incondicional de su familia que le han ayudado a crecer su negocio y desea poder retribuirles los frutos del esfuerzo familiar. 

¿Qué sientes al ver todos tus logros, desde el momento que iniciaste tu negocio hasta el día de hoy? 

Si soy sincera, soy muy dura conmigo misma, me enfoco tanto en donde quiero llegar que no me había puesto a pensar que he tenido logros pequeños que están marcando la diferencia en mi negocio. Y creo que esto me enseña a que cada paso vale mucho, eso significa que estoy a un paso más cerca de llegar a mi meta. En lo particular me encanta agradecer y festejar los logros por más pequeños que estos sean.  – Claudia Carreño 

¿Qué consejo le das a todas las mujeres para lograr sus metas e iniciar un negocio? 

Mi consejo es que sigan sus sueños y que no dejen que nadie les quite su luz y su enfoque. Que todo es posible y que muchas veces las limitaciones uno mismo se las pone. ¡Que si se cierra una puerta otra se abre, y en ocasiones quizás solo se abre por corto tiempo y es ahí donde tenemos que entrar con todo!!! Pero lo más importante es que se preparen, que se eduquen, en todo lo relevante a su negocio. La educación es empoderamiento, lo aprendido nadie te lo quita y que se rodean de gente que tiene sueños similares a ti.  

Nunca se detengan y luchen hasta donde se pueda. Muchas veces pensamos que ciertas cosas no son para nosotras y nos detenemos ahí. El mundo no es de los que saben más si no de los que intentan más veces. Algo muy importante es que somos seres humanos y que en ocasiones las cosas no salen como pensamos o cometemos errores, TODAS tenemos días buenos y otros no tan buenos. Se vale llorar, se vale caerse, pero también se VALE volver a empezar. 

Frida Kahlo decía “Échame Tierra y veraz como florezco” esta frase me la digo cuando en situaciones con personas o proyectos no se dan las cosas, pero sigo adelante. – Claudia Carreño 

Claudia Carreño registro su negocio Carreno Professional Services LLC en el año 2019, un día que recuerda con mucha emoción y orgullo, no podía creer que lo había hecho una realidad y entendió la importancia de su logro, así como el compromiso que conlleva ser empresario por lo cual tomó la decisión de aplicar al Acelerador de Negocios 13a generación donde fue aceptada como alumna oficial.  

A nivel profesional el sueño de Claudia Carreño es tener el primer corporativo Bilingüe en el Estado de Arizona, donde se puedan ofrecer las herramientas y capacitación a empresarios con la finalidad de que las empresas estén bien estructuradas con las políticas necesarias para seguir creciendo. Esta idea surgió en Claudia después de observar la necesidad y poca información que hay al respecto.  

“He escuchado historias de empresarios donde me rompe el corazón escuchar que han tenido que cerrar sus negocios por auditorías que les han hecho y mirando que sus sueños se desmoronan en un dos por tres. La verdad no quisiera que nadie pasara por esto o que si pasan que estén bien preparados” – Claudia Carreño 

Para Claudia Carreño, Fuerza Local tiene un gran papel en su desempeño como empresaria, fue la primera asociación que le abrió las puertas de su programa, aún recuerda el día de su entrevista para ingresar a la generación 13 del Acelerador de Negocios. Una de las cosas más importantes que aprendió fueron las conexiones tan importantes para el crecimiento de su negocio que pueden llevarte a obtener oportunidades educativas e inclusive laborales. 

¿Cómo has sobrepasado los obstáculos en tu carrera profesional? 

Si los obstáculos están bajo mi control, trató de enfrentarlos reconociendo que son barreras pero que con dedicación y esfuerzo las puedo superar. Pero hay obstáculos en la vida tanto profesional como personal, que están fuera de mi control, y estos son los que más duelen y cuestan superarlos o evadirlos. Al principio, como toda persona me frustro, pero después capto que son cosas que quizás no dependen de mí, entonces trato de dejárselo al tiempo, la vida y sobre todo a Dios ya que soy una persona de Fe. – Claudia Carreño  

¿Qué significa el mes de la historia mujer para Claudia Carreño? 

El mes de la mujer en lo personal me llena de empoderamiento al escuchar historias de mujeres que han salido adelante en su vocación y en su comunidad a pesar de las grandes desventajas que podemos tener. El rol de la mujer es impresionante y somos multifacéticas, este mes me recuerda el poder de la unión y de la admiración mutua, cada mujer tiene una historia impresionante en la que todas aprendemos y tratamos de imitar. Y no necesariamente con mujeres famosas, las historias más latentes a nosotras son la de nuestras madres, abuela, tías, amigas y todas aquellas que influyen de manera positiva a que podamos ser mejores cada día.

Women's History Month: Claudia Carreño “Throw dirt on me and see how I flourish”

In Women's History Month 2023, we will learn the story of Claudia Carreño, businesswoman, instructor, and above all, a powerful woman who is leaving her mark on the Hispanic business community in Arizona.

Claudia Carreño is a proud native of Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico and owner of Carreno Professional Services LLC, a local company that provides accounting/bookkeeping, human resources, and administration services to small businesses, as well as being the current second and third generation coordinator of the Fuerza Local “Nivel Ejecutivo”Executive Level program.

She arrived in the city of Phoenix, AZ with her family when she was an 11-year-old girl, at first it was difficult to integrate into the new culture and language of the United States. Convinced that studying was the most important thing, she focused on finishing high school, which at the time she thought would be the most she could study, fortunately she realized that she could continue and finished her university degree at Arizona State University ( ASU) as an Educator and Consultant in Human Resources.

Claudia Carreño has had many challenges in her life, one of them was the English language. Today she is proud to say that she mastered it in her own way and that she was able to destroy all the insecurities that she brought with her for not speaking it perfectly or having the famous “accent”.

Claudia's motivation to get up every morning is to continue working to fulfill her dreams and build a better future. For the last 4 years she has had unconditional support from her family who have helped her grow her business and she wants to be able to pay them back all the support that they have given her.

How do you feel when you see all your achievements, from the moment you started your business until today?

If I'm honest, I'm very hard on myself, I focus so much on where I want to go that I hadn't even thought that I've had small achievements that are making a difference in my business. I think that this teaches me that each step is worth a lot, that means that I am one step closer to reaching my goal. In particular, I love to appreciate and celebrate achievements, however small they may be. – Claudia Carreno

What advice do you give all women to achieve their goals and start a business?

My advice is to follow their dreams and don't let anyone take away their focus. That everything is possible and that many times we are the ones that  put our own limitations. That if one door closes another one opens, and sometimes perhaps it only opens for a short time and that's where we have to go in with everything!!! But the most important thing is that they prepare themselves, that they educate themselves, in everything relevant to their business. Education is empowerment, no one can take away what you have learned and you surround yourself with people who have similar dreams to you.

Never stop and fight as long as you can. Many times we think that certain things are not for us and we stop there. The world is not for those who know more but of those who try more times. Something very important is that we are human beings and that sometimes things do not turn out as we expected. We will make mistakes, we ALL have good days and others not so good. It's okay to cry, it's okay to fall, but it's also okay to start over.

Claudia Carreño registered her business Carreno Professional Services LLC in 2019. A day that she remembers with great emotion and pride. She could not believe that she had made it a reality and she understood the importance of her achievement, as well as the commitment that being an entrepreneur entails. This is why she made the decision to apply to the 13th generation Business Accelerator where she was accepted as an official student.

On a professional level, Claudia Carreño's dream is to have the first Bilingual corporation in the State of Arizona. A corporation that would provide the tools and training to entrepreneurs so that their companies are well structured with the necessary policies to continue growing. This idea arose in Claudia after observing the need and the little information there is for hispanic entrepreneurs.

“I have heard stories from entrepreneurs where it breaks my heart to hear that they had to close their businesses due to audits and seeing their dreams crumble in no time. The truth is that I would not want anyone to go through this or that if they do, they should be well prepared” – Claudia Carreño

For Claudia Carreño, Fuerza Local has a great role in her performance as an entrepreneur, it was the first association that opened the doors to their program.She still remembers the day of her interview to enter the 13th generation of the Business Accelerator. One of the most important things she learned was that the connections are so important for the growth of your business that can lead you to obtain education and even job opportunities.

How have you overcome obstacles in your professional career?

If the obstacles are under my control, I try to face them, recognizing that they are barriers but that with dedication and effort I can overcome them. But there are obstacles in life, both professional and personal, that are out of my control, and these are the ones that hurt the most and are hard to overcome or avoid. At first, like everyone else, I get frustrated, but later I realize that these are things that perhaps do not depend on me, so I try to leave it to time, life and above all to God since I am a person of Faith. – Claudia Carreño

What does women's history month mean for Claudia Carreño?

Women's month personally fills me with empowerment when hearing stories of women who have succeeded in their careers and in their community despite the great disadvantages they may have. The role of women is impressive and we are multifaceted, this month reminds me of the power of union and mutual admiration. Each woman has an impressive story in which we all learn and try to imitate. Not necessarily with famous women, the most latent stories for us are that of our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, friends and all those who positively influence us to be better every day.
