Phoenix Hat Store Puts a New Spin on Breast Cancer Awareness
If you haven’t heard, the streets of Phoenix are buzzing about a new local business in downtown Phoenix that sells classic hats. Straw and Wool opened on Grand Avenue at the beginning of August and has already had to expand to make room for more hat styles. The owners contribute their success to the supportive community but also from having a long history of giving back to the community in a variety of ways prior to opening this latest venture.
“When you do good, good always comes back. “This is an important cause that affects so many women in the community. If we have the ability to help, even in a small way, we want to do what we can.”
For the entire month of October, Straw and Wool will be giving 100% of the profits from all sales of select hats, that just so happen to be pink, to local organizations focused on education, outreach and increasing the survival rates of those diagnosed with breast cancer. To kick off the fundraiser this Saturday, October 10th, 10% of all sales will be donated as well. “In business, we believe you can do good and do well,” says another one the owners, Dominic Clark. When asked if they will continue this tradition for other causes, the businessmen are optimistic but tight-lipped. “We started this business to change the culture and we hope to do that in more ways than one,” says Brother Ali, the third member of the trio.
Straw and Wool is located inside Desert Sun Plaza, 1325 Grand Ave in The Points on Grand Ave. Stop by to check out their amazing selection of hats and donate to an important cause starting this Saturday. Even if you are unable to make it by the shop, the owners encourage everyone to support the cause, and any other cause that is important to you, with your time, your voice and your resources. Henry leaves us with this sentiment, “The right hat can change your perspective and perception. We want everyone to experience that feeling and to also feel empowered to make a change because it’s all of our responsibility to create the world that we want to see”.
