STN Project Greenprint Takes On Conservation

The new episode of Project Greenprint focused on Conservation by Social Television Network (STN) is available on the free STN App starting November 3rd.

In this episode, host Kristen Keogh introduces several advocates for conservation in Arizona who offer opportunities to get involved and speak up for our few remaining wild spaces.

Director of the Arizona Chapter of The Nature Conservancy Dan Stellar teaches us about their 30 by 30 initiative and the TNC mapping project that prioritizes the most important areas to conserve across Arizona and the US as species migrate due to climate change.

Amanda Pomdore and Amber Reidondo of Grand Canyon Trust discuss the importance of involving tribal communities in conservation, as Indigenous communities like the Navajo Nation continue to be disproportionately impacted by extractive industries. They also tell us about the Grand Canyon Protection Act and how you can advocate for this broadly-supported legislation, due to come up before the Senate soon.

Arizona State Parks & Trails Executive Director Bob Broscheid comes on the show to discuss the surge of visitors at state parks during the pandemic and the part everyone can play in protecting land and animals. This conversation is an inspiring discussion of how parks have to balance conservation and accessibility, what Arizona policy-specific obstacles are in place that hinder conservation, and how to change the culture of the state to get more people outside and passionate about taking action to conserve land and water.

Where can you go to learn more and get involved? Watch the episode to find out and stay tuned for next month’s installment!

Social Television Network is teamed up with Local First Arizona Sustainability to bring Arizonans an in-depth look at environmental issues and sustainability solutions via the monthly series Project Greenprint.
