Tubac is a place like no other, where art and history meet in a spirited village in Southern Arizona. With the intent to gather as much community input as possible, the Tubac Chamber of Commerce invited a number of local merchants and community members to participate in the community project led by Local First Arizona, in partnership with the Arizona Office of Tourism, to ensure an outcome that was representative of the community, its residents, and its businesses.

The vision for the final brand dates back to 1752, the year Tubac was first established. Spanish settlers influenced much of the architecture in Tubac and constructed the Mission San José de Tumacácori. Many years later, Tubac became an artist colony, which inspired many of the transformations within the village that one finds there today. This unique blend of art and history, cultural diversity, and peacefulness inspired the final brand.

A Community with Humble Beginnings and Culture at the Forefront

Experience the essence of Tubac’s history as you walk through authentic Old Town; with humble, historic buildings, the Tubac Center for the Arts, Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum, unique eateries, and eclectic locals sharing their colorful stories. Tubac, for such a small place, holds new discoveries at every turn.

Here, the confluence of history, culture, and the outdoors meet with a hike along the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. Rainbow-colored sunsets, a peaceful breeze, and star-filled nights offer a wondrous escape and place to rejuvenate.

“History plays such a critical role in what Tubac is today. This was apparent and came through with such passion in all of the stakeholder meetings we convened,” said Liza Noland, branding consultant and Director of Rural Programs for Local First Arizona. “Tubac stands out as a community that not only honors it’s heritage but also the diversity of its people and the personalities that make Tubac what it is today.”

Up next, the Tubac Chamber of Commerce will begin promoting the brand in areas of community development, economic development, and tourism. If you are interested in learning more about the Tubac community, check out their Community Profile  located at RuralAZ.com.
