Lake Havasu delights WeekendZona visitors

This February, Local First Arizona partnered with the Arizona Office of Tourism to organize a planned itinerary to showcase Lake Havasu’s greatest tourist attractions. WeekendZona attendees only needed to show up, mingle with their fellow travelers and be ready for adventure.

Two Local First hosts led a party of 17 people through a weekend full of Lake Havasu’s local food, drinks, history, and sights.

On the first full day, guests put on their walking shoes and crossed the famous London Bridge, hearing about the unique history from a knowledgeable local who knew all of Lake Havasu’s enticing stories. Travelers ended each day with a comfy stay at the Island Suites Hotel

WeekendZona travelers wined and dined at some of Lake Havasu’s best local restaurants, including Barley Brother’s Brewery, The Chair, The Red Onion, Jersey’s Grill, Mario’s Italian Restaurant and Makai Cafe

To wrap up the weekend, guests hit the lake on a narrated boat ride with Blue Water Jet Tours to see ancient Indigenous petroglyphs, search for Arizona wildlife and enjoy the turquoise blue water.

Local First created WeekendZona to show Arizonans the hidden gems in their very own state and divert tourism money to local communities instead of other states.

WeekendZona is a two-day event in a #RuralAZ destination, packed full of carefully curated experiences that showcase all that the community has to offer, from outdoor adventures to local cuisine.

Through this WeekendZona, we were able to generate over $10,000 in revenue to Lake Havasu businesses! With something for everyone, Lake Havasu WeekendZona helped create new Arizona memories along with new friendships among fellow explorers.
