I SPEAK AZ LLC: empoderando la confianza a través del idioma, la comunidad y el crecimiento empresarial

En un mundo donde el idioma puede ser una barrera o una puerta de oportunidad, una mujer vio la posibilidad de transformar vidas a través de la comunicación. Lo que comenzó como una pasión por ayudar a otros hoy se ha convertido en I SPEAK AZ LLC, una academia de inglés diseñada especialmente para la comunidad hispana. Pero detrás de este proyecto hay una historia de resiliencia, comunidad y determinación que también se construye en familia.
“I SPEAK AZ nació de una injusticia que pasamos y nuestra comunidad nos ayudó para iniciar este negocio”, comparte Anabell Hernández. “Nos trajeron escritorios, computadoras y poco a poquito hemos iniciado… gracias a la comunidad y gracias a ellos seguimos aquí, ya tenemos 3 años”.
Antes de emprender, Anabell trabajaba en el área administrativa en México y hace 10 años llegó a los Estados Unidos, donde comenzó a notar la necesidad dentro de la comunidad. Su motivación se fortaleció tras una experiencia difícil: “Trabajaba como recepcionista en una escuela fantasma… los alumnos y yo nos dimos cuenta de que no existía, y a partir de ahí me dijeron: ‘¿por qué no abres una escuela?’”. Fue entonces cuando comenzó a dar los primeros pasos para crear su propio negocio de manera formal.
Rompiendo barreras a través del aprendizaje del idioma
I SPEAK AZ LLC se distingue por su enfoque práctico y humano, centrado en la conversación, la confianza y el uso del idioma en situaciones reales. A través de clases para adultos y programas como el Speaking Club, los estudiantes practican inglés en un ambiente accesible y motivador. Su metodología también nace de su propia experiencia como migrante. “Yo tenía el conocimiento del idioma desde México, pero al llegar aquí es muy diferente… cómo se habla, cómo se expresa, cómo es la vida diaria”, comparte”, comparte Anabell.
Esta visión también es compartida por su hija, Aylin Urias, quien ha crecido dentro del negocio. “Yo siempre he trabajado con mi mamá, hemos estado trabajando todos los días constantemente”, comenta. Su experiencia refuerza la importancia de la práctica: “Estuve en inglés durante toda mi educación… pero eran cursos muy teóricos. Me faltaba esa parte práctica de poder hablar con una persona naturalmente… ahí fue cuando hice click que era necesario practicar”.
Construyendo un negocio a través de retos y crecimiento
El camino del emprendimiento no ha sido fácil. Comenzar desde cero implicó construir la academia, atraer estudiantes y aprender nuevas áreas como administración, marketing y crecimiento empresarial. A pesar de los retos, el crecimiento ha sido significativo. “Mis cursos son grupos pequeños, máximo 10 alumnos… empezamos con 20 alumnos en una oficina chiquita y ahora, gracias a Dios, superamos los 100 alumnos”, comparte Anabell.
Desde la perspectiva de Aylin, este crecimiento también se refleja en el cambio de los estudiantes. “Sí recuerdo a muchos alumnos que el primer día estaban súper serios… y al final de sus graduaciones los vi completamente confiados y felices de que lograron superarse”, dice. Hoy, la academia atiende a una comunidad diversa en edades y experiencias. “Hemos tenido personas hasta de 63 años y niños pequeños… tenemos clases para todas las edades, todos son bien recibidos”, comparte Aylin. Para Anabell, lo más valioso sigue siendo el impacto en sus estudiantes: “Vemos muchas familias que vienen a estudiar con nosotros y salen agradecidos porque pudieron avanzar en el trabajo y salir adelante”.
Fuerza Local: una plataforma de aprendizaje y transformación
Un punto clave en su crecimiento fue su participación en el programa Acelerador de Negocios de Fuerza Local, una iniciativa de seis meses diseñada para enseñar a microempresarios herramientas esenciales de desarrollo empresarial y educación financiera. Para Anabell, esta experiencia representó una oportunidad real de crecimiento y formalización. “Participar en el Programa Acelerador de Negocios de Fuerza Local ha sido una experiencia muy valiosa”, comenta. “Me permitió aprender herramientas importantes para fortalecer mi negocio y entender mejor cómo hacerlo crecer de manera estratégica”.
Aylin también fue testigo de este proceso. “Cuando mi mamá entró a los cursos de Fuerza Local… lo que más me impactó fue ver el antes y el después del negocio”, comparte. “Antes no sabíamos mucho sobre contabilidad, y ahora tenemos una estructura para llevar nuestros costos, conocer nuestras ganancias y optimizar el negocio". Anabell forma parte de la generación 24, una comunidad de emprendedores que buscan fortalecer sus negocios con conocimiento y apoyo. “Es un programa que realmente ayuda a los emprendedores a desarrollar sus ideas y mejorar sus negocios”, afirma.
Hoy, madre e hija comparten una visión clara del impacto de su trabajo. “Hemos creado una comunidad donde todos tenemos diferentes historias… y romper la barrera del idioma es muy importante porque nos permite conectarnos y avanzar”, expresa Aylin.

What began as a passion for helping others has now become I SPEAK AZ LLC, an English academy designed especially for the Hispanic community. Behind the project is a story of resilience, community and determination rooted in family.
“I SPEAK AZ was born out of an injustice we experienced, and our community helped us start this business,” shares Anabell Hernández. “They brought us desks, computers, and little by little we got started. Thanks to the community, we are still here, and now we’ve been operating for three years.”
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Anabell worked in administration in Mexico. She arrived in the United States 10 years ago, where she began to notice a strong need within the community. Her motivation grew after a difficult experience: “I worked as a receptionist at a school that turned out not to be legitimate, the students and I realized it didn’t actually exist, and that’s when they told me, ‘Why don’t you open your own school?’” That moment marked the beginning of her journey toward formally building her own business.
Breaking barriers through language learning
I SPEAK AZ LLC stands out for its practical and human-centered approach, focusing on conversation, confidence, and using language in real-life situations. Through adult classes and programs like the Speaking Club, students practice English in an accessible and motivating environment. Her methodology is also rooted in her own experience as an immigrant. “I had knowledge of the language from Mexico, but when you arrive here, it’s very different… how people speak, how they express themselves, what daily life is like,” she shares.
This vision is also shared by her daughter, Aylin Urias, who has been working alongside her mother to grow the business. She also shares similar experiences to the students taking classes at I SPEAK AZ, as someone who is between living in the United States and Mexico. “I studied English throughout my education… but it was very theoretical.
I was missing that practical part of actually speaking with someone naturally, that’s when it clicked for me that practice was essential.”
Building a business through challenges and growth
The entrepreneurial journey has not been easy. Starting from scratch meant building the academy, attracting students, and learning new areas such as administration, marketing, and business growth. Despite the challenges, growth has been significant. “My classes are small groups, a maximum of 10 students. We started with 20 students in a very small office, and now thank God, we have surpassed 100 students,” Anabell shares.
From Aylin’s perspective, this growth is also reflected in the transformation of the students. “I remember many students who were very timid and quiet on the first day and by the time of their graduation, I saw them completely different, more confident and happy that they had achieved this milestone,” she says. Today, the academy serves a diverse community across ages and backgrounds.
“We’ve had students as old as 63 and young children. We offer classes for all ages, everyone is welcome,” Aylin shares. For Anabell, the most meaningful impact remains in her students’ progress: “We see many families who come to study with us and leave grateful because they were able to advance in their jobs and move forward in life.”
Fuerza Local: A platform for learning and transformation
A key moment in their growth was participating in the Fuerza Local Business Accelerator Program, a six-month initiative designed to equip microentrepreneurs with essential business development and financial education tools. This experience represented a real opportunity for growth and formalization.“It allowed me to learn important tools to strengthen my business and better understand how to grow it strategically,” she says.
“We’ve created a community where everyone has different stories and breaking the language barrier is very important because it allows us to connect and move forward.”
Aylin also witnessed this transformation firsthand. “When my mom joined the Fuerza Local program, what impacted me most was seeing the before and after of the business,” she shares. “Before, we didn’t know much about accounting, and now we have systems in place to manage our costs, understand our profits, and optimize the business.” Anabell is part of cohort 24, a community of entrepreneurs working to strengthen their businesses through knowledge and support. “It’s a program that truly helps entrepreneurs develop their ideas and improve their businesses,” she says.
Today, mother and daughter share a clear vision of the impact of their work.
