Fuerza Local Instructor Heber Valenzuela Nominated to Win $25,000 – and You can Help!

Heber Valenzuela Is Among 12 Finalists for 2020 Coors Light Líder of the Year

Since 2006, Coors Light has highlighted, honored and rewarded Latino leaders for their hard work and helping others through their Coors Light Líder of the Year competition. Each year, they select 12 finalists and the winner is chosen through online public voting. We are thrilled to announce that Heber Valenzuela, a Fuerza Local instructor, has been selected as one of the 12 Coors Light Líderes finalists for the Coors Light Líder of the Year!

Valenzuela has been committed to serving the Arizona Community through his social work in sports marketing, non-profits, and entrepreneurship. When the COVID-19 crisis first started, he produced FREE webinars that taught small business owners marketing and financial literacy skills to help them adapt to the challenges of keeping their business going and generate income during the pandemic. He has continued those classes through today. Valenzuela, has also led multiple donation drives and awareness campaigns that brought corporations, sports, and nonprofits together to support those in need.

I am honored to represent my community for this year’s Coors Light Líderes program. Coors Light has made a commitment to the Hispanic community to recognize and reward the dedication and tenacious spirit of emerging Latino leaders like me. I am grateful for the opportunity to compete and hopefully win a grant for Fuerza Local.
— Heber Valenzuela

His dedicated work for his community also includes serving as a founding member and strategic advisor for Latinos Contra el Cancer, a chapter of the American Cancer Society. This chapter started in Phoenix and is now expanding to New York and Florida. These chapters focus on educating Latinos in cancer prevention and provide information and resource assistance to family members of cancer patients. Valenzuela helps organize fundraising events for Latinos Contra el Cancer, and his efforts recently helped raise a significant amount of funds for cancer resources. He is also the only candidate from Arizona.

Heber has been an instructor of our Fuerza Local Business Accelerator program over the years and an expert guest for our Nivel Ejecutivo program. He has donated dozens of pro bono hours to assist our business owners outside of class time. We are so grateful for his commitment to investing in the next generation of Fuerza Local business leaders.
— TANAIRÍ OCHOA-MARTÍNEZ, DIRECTOR OF FUERZA LOCAL

The individual that is voted in as the 2020 Líder of the Year will be awarded a $25,000 grant for their nonprofit. Valenzuela has pledged that money towards Fuerza Local and supporting the Latinx community of business owners here in Arizona.

This year, these leaders’ efforts to help their community take on a special significance because of ongoing challenges related to COVID-19, and the resulting dire economic impact in underrepresented communities.  We are grateful for their leadership and desire to help all those around them.

The public can start voting for Heber Valenzuela  August 1, through August 31, 2020. You can vote up to 10 times each day and you must be 21 years or older to vote. For more information, you can visit www.CoorsLightLideres.com.
