Falling in Love with Wickenburg
Where It Started:
Arizonans spend an average of $6 billion vacationing in Southern California every year. Yes, that’s billion…. with a B! Local First Arizona (LFA) created WeekendZona to help Arizonans discover the amazing getaways here in their own state and to capture some of that travel spend locally. WeekendZona is a two-day event in a #RuralAZ destination, packed full of carefully curated experiences that showcase all that the community has to offer, from outdoor adventures to local cuisine.
Wickenburg WeekendZona Event:
In partnership with the Arizona Office of Tourism, LFA organized a weekend full of unique experiences to showcase Wickenburg. WeekendZona goers only had to show up and soak it all in while making new friends with their fellow explorers.
LFA hosts led 10 guests through an October weekend of local food, drinks, and activities unique to the area. Los Viajeros Inn was the group’s home away from home during the trip, which included a storied night-time ghost tour and the annual Halloween festivities at Vulture City Ghost Town – complete with unbelievable pumpkin carvings by eatured artistss.
WeekendZona travelers fueled up and re-energized at some of Wickenburg’s best local restaurants including Cowboy Cookin’, Spurs Cafe, Nana’s Sandwich Shoppe, and Lydia’s La Canasta. Guests enjoyed a night full of campfires, s’mores, and singing Old Western classics at the Rancho de Los Cabelleros cookout. During free time, Wickenburg’s historic downtown was welcoming to the WeekendZona guests, who even struck up some new friendships with locals. To wrap up the weekend, guests enjoyeda discovery session at Hassaympa River Preserve, where they took in the region’s natural beauty.
With something for everyone, Wickenburg WeekendZonacreated new Arizona memories along with new friendships among fellow adventurers. Missed out on the fun? Build your own trip to Wickenburg here and sign up to receive our monthly rural newsletter for information about future WeekendZona adventures.
