Arizona Economic Resource Center Grant Basics Workshop Series: Working with a Grant Writer

Hiring or collaborating with a grant writer can significantly strengthen your funding strategy, but only when roles and expectations are clear. This workshop explores how organizations can effectively prepare for and collaborate with grant writers, including gathering materials, aligning program priorities, and maintaining strong communication throughout the proposal process. Participants will leave with a checklist to help determine when and how to engage grant writing support.

Mara Gerst, CFRE, GPC, CNP, an Arizona native, has been involved with the nonprofit sector as a grants professional, fundraising professional, adjunct professor, and volunteer for more than 25 years. Mara founded Gerst Grants & Nonprofit Consulting in 2015 and partners with clients providing services in the areas of arts and culture, education, environment, human services, and disadvantaged youth.
