If you're hungry for authentic Italian, you've found it
Phoenix may not have a Little Italy but Andreoli Italian Grocer in Scottsdale is where all the Italians, and anyone in the know, can go for a taste of the Old Country.
Andreoli Italian Grocer does a brisk business in sandwiches, salads and antipasti. Additionally, the store features all kinds of imported specialty items for sale. Americanized Italian food is everywhere, but if you're hungry for something authentic, you've found it.
Giovanni Scorzo, chef and proprietor, was born in Calabria, and grew up in Liguria, in the Northwestern part of Italy. Like his mother, whose maiden name was Andreoli, he became a chef. Scorzo worked in a variety of Italian regions, Liguria, Tuscany and Calabria, until moving to the U.S. in 1985.
