A week and counting: big Tucson event

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Tonight is the Local First Arizona August mixer in Tucson. We’ll meet on 4th Avenue at Antigone Books with food by Downtown favorite Chris’ Cafe. The collaboration of a 4th Ave and Downtown business couldn’t be more fitting.
On the 20th we will celebrate Tucson’s birthday and the long awaited grand opening of the 4th Avenue underpass! Downtown, 4th Avenue and Main Gate Square will be reunited again after two years by the Old Pueblo Trolley which runs every weekend.
Next Thursday the festivities will begin at 3 pm and the trolley will run for free from 4 to 10 pm! This is a great opportunity for the Tucson community to come together and celebrate all things local and unique in the heart of the city.

Local First working to keep money in Arizona

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

From The Explorer – The Voice of Marana, Oro Valley and Northwest Tucson – comes this article on Local First Arizona: Local First working to keep money in Arizona.

Kudos to our very own Lisette DeMars in her photo:

Store manager Lisette DeMars helps 7-year-old customer Ryan Magness choose a sticker at Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle’s Toys. DeMars is also a membership coordinator for Local First Arizona, a coalition of more than 1,300 small Arizona businesses.
