Local First AZ is thrilled to be participating in this year’s Tucson Festival of Books. This two day event is the fourth largest book festival in the country, bringing together more than 400 presenters.  It is a rare opportunity to meet and hear favorite authors, poets, screenwriters and journalists at author readings, panel discussions and book signings.

Local First Arizona members Chef Ryan Clark of Agustin Kitchen and Barbara McNichol  and Julie Rustad will be presenting books at the event and will be visiting our LFA booth to sign them.

“What a bonus for Tucson,” says Barbara McNichol.  “The Festival of Books draws name authors to our town and provides fabulous outreach for those who live here. Be sure to stop by Local First Arizona booth as you take in all the magic of this amazing event.”

In addition to all the great book activities, there is staged entertainment, children’s activities and great local food vendors.  Thanks to a gracious donation from Local First AZ member Antigone Books,  this is the first year Local First AZ will be among the over 200 exhibitors, alongside LFA member sponsors of the  event; Bear Essential News for Kids, Bookmans Entertainment ExchangeGood News Radio Broadcasting, KXCI 91.3 Community Radio, Lovitt & Touche Inc Insurance and Bonds, Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance, and Visit Tucson, as well as fellow exhibitor LFA members; Arizona Experience StoreChildrens Museum TucsonCreative JuiceGloo FactoryHughes Federal Credit Union, Julies OriginalsThe Book StopThe LoftTucson Waldorf School and Yikes Toys and Gift-O-Rama.

To make it easier to navigate the festival, TFOB even provides a handy mobile app you can use to create your own personalized schedule of events.   This event would not be possible without the help of many volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to help at the Local First AZ booth, please let us know by signing up here.  The festival is also in need of volunteers, so if you are also interested in becoming a general festival volunteer, please let TFOB know here.  The festival is free to attend and proceeds, raised from the support of sponsors, exhibitors, and Friends of the Festival, go to fund literacy programs in Southern Arizona.
