We at Local First Arizona have been working on a new initiative called Shift Arizona. We want every single person to think about where their hard-earned dollars go when spent at locally-owned businesses and how much of an impact they make on our community. Even small changes (say, 10% of your spending) shifted to local businesses from national changes can effect HUGE positive changes in economy and lifestyle!
Join us when we formally announce this new initiative! In Phoenix, the day begins with a press conference in the morning and the celebration continues later that day with a launch party in the Casa Paloma space at the historic El Chorro Lodge! We’ll have campaign materials and information about this important and timely movement. Enjoy complementary appetizers and soft drinks from El Chorro Lodge, along with a cash bar. We will also have a press conference in Tucson at Maynard’s Market on October 1st!
Please come out to show your dedication to our community by sharing how you are going to Shift 10% of your spending to expedite our state’s economic recovery. Bring your company shirts and hats- let yourselves be seen!
VERY excited about this! Even a small choice, like only going to locally owned coffee shops over national chains from now on can make a difference. It takes a bit more commitment to look for alternatives but the LFA directory and mobile app are perfect tools to help change our buying habits.
I’m planning to attend. As a Local First member, do you need us to provide anything, do anything, help out in anyway?
Please let me know.
Thanks.
Lisa
Just yourselves is all we ask! Thanks so much!
Great concept and more should be thinking about it and putting it into play. I have stopped ordering from VistaPrint and am using local printers. Small savings and specials pull us in, but many advantages to keeping our dollars in AZ’s economy. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront!
Initially we were dismayed at the lack of local beer and wine featured at this event.
After some investigation, we discovered that the house beer, Jax Ale, is produced by Four Peaks.
We also spoke with the other Local First member brewery, Prescott Brewing and have been assured that more local beer and wine will be featured.
Beer (and wine) are local ingredients. Kudos for making sure that those local breweries and wineries are represented.
Thanks for doing the research! I know before the location was even chosen, Kimber went down to check out everything and make sure that as much as possible was being sourced locally.
